Today, we had our 32 week check up with the Maternal Fetal Specialist as well as a Fetal Echo. During the MFS appointment, they found that the little man is growing and doing really well (estimated weight of 4.5 lbs), but my AFI is low. My fluid level is at 9, so they put me on strict bedrest. I am able to get out of bed to eat, take a shower and go to the bathroom. They also told me to contine to dring lots of water.
The fetal echo showed that is appears that he does not have a Ductus venosus, which is fetal blood vessel connecting the umbilical vein to the IVC. They did detect that blood flow is getting to all areas of the heart and body as well as that his heart is structurally and functioning normally. They are going to provide this information to the neonatology team at Piedmont so they will be aware of the issue and able to address any problems that may arise after he is born.

We'll be thinking of you. If it helps, they said this about Carter, too, but when he was born, they were wrong.
ReplyDeleteHang in there....almost there! And then, you have to come to NC for a visit. :)
