34 Week Update

Yesterday, I went to my regular OB (Dr. S) for monitoring due to contractions. They monitored me for about an hour and then sent me over to the hospital for further monitoring. At the office, I was having contractions every 7-10 mins and the doctor was going to give me medication to slow them down once I got to the hospital. Once we got to the hospital, the contractions slow down to once every 15-20 mins so no medication was necessary and we got to go home.

Today, I went for my 34 week check up with the Maternal Fetal Doctor (Dr. P). My fluid levels are holding steady at 9, which the he seemed to be happy with. As far as little man, he is still growing like a weed and weighed in at 5lbs 4oz. As usual he was very shy and did not show off his face. He is currently head down with his arms crossed across his chest. Every time, they would try to get a picture of his face, he would pull his crossed arms over his face and cover it up. We did get to see that he has quite a bit of hair.

As expected, I will remain on bedrest for the remainder of my preganacy due to the low fluid and contractions. The good thing is that I only have 34 more days until he arrives. I cannot wait to count his fingers and toes as well as hug and kiss him.

Bedrest

I have offically been on complete bedrest for one week.  I never knew how hard it would be to just lay here for 6 weeks.  I know that it is what is best for little man, but it is driving me crazy.  There is only so much TV that you can watch before yor brain turns to complete mush.  The week days are really not that bad since I am still able to work full time from the couch/bed, but the weekends are hard.  Jason and I have our routine of running errands and such on the weekends and now I can't go.  Like I told him, I now know how our dogs must feel when we leave them.

I have also been having migraines pretty reglarly.  In the last week, I have had two pretty bad ones.  I wish I knew what was cuasing them so I could stop exposing myself to it.  I had forgotten how bad migrianes could be since I was blessed with not having one for almost 4 years.  I guess my body is making up for lost time by craming as many as it can into a week without killing me.

Little Man's Birthday!!!

I went to my regular OB this morning for my 32 week check up and all is well with little man.  The doctor scheduled the C-section.  Little man will be here on May 3, 2010 around 1pm.  It is hard to believe that he will be here in a mere 6 weeks.  I have been dreaming about holding him since the moment I found out I was pregnant.

I hope the next 6 weeks go by as fast as the first 32.  I am sure that couch and I will be very good friends by then.

32 week Check Up

Today, we had our 32 week check up with the Maternal Fetal Specialist as well as a Fetal Echo.  During the MFS appointment, they found that the little man is growing and doing really well (estimated weight of 4.5 lbs), but my AFI is low.  My fluid level is at 9, so they put me on strict bedrest.  I am able to get out of bed to eat, take a shower and go to the bathroom.  They also told me to contine to dring lots of water.

The fetal echo showed  that is appears that he does not have a Ductus venosus, which is fetal blood vessel connecting the umbilical vein to the IVC.  They did detect that blood flow is getting to all areas of the heart and body as well as that his heart is structurally and functioning normally.  They are going to provide this information to the neonatology team at Piedmont so they will be aware of the issue and able to address any problems that may arise after he is born.

The Nursery

Jason and I finished the nursery this weekend.  My mom finished his quilt and curtains and Jason finished painintg and hung everything for me.  The only things that are missing are little man and his name hanging above the crib.  I am so excited to have it finished.

Baby Registry

Jason and I registered little man at Babies R Us.  We are not having a baby shower since we are scared that we will jinx everything, but we still thought it was a good idea to register for the 20% off coupon and the aility to return things if we do not use them after buying them.
